Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Lady Lash, whose real name is Crystal Mastrosavas, is a talented Australian musician. She sings hip-hop and jazz music. Lady Lash has a special background, being from both the Indigenous Kokatha people and Greek heritage. She grew up in a place called Ceduna, South Australia, and now lives in Melbourne, Victoria.

Her music often mixes beautiful poetry, observations about life, and a spiritual feeling. Some of her songs talk about important topics like the challenges faced by Indigenous families over many years, including the Stolen Generations, and what it's like to experience racism. She uses her music to share powerful messages and stories.

Lady Lash's Music Journey

When Lady Lash was a teenager, she started her music career as a backing singer. She sang for a well-known Indigenous rock band called Coloured Stone, led by Bunna Lawrie. She even went on tour with the band and appeared on their album, Rhythm of Nature. The very first music album she ever bought was 2pac's All Eyes on Me.

In 2015, Crystal decided to use the name Lady Lash again for her music. She released an album called Milky Way. Her husband, who works as Skitzo Productions, produced this album. Because of Milky Way, she was nominated for "Best Indigenous Act" at the Music Victoria Awards in 2016.

After that, she released a trip hop EP (which is like a mini-album) called Cats Eyes Sirens Mouth. Her next music release was Therapy Tapes, which came out in 2017.

Lady Lash also performed at the famous Sydney Opera House. She was part of an Indigenous opera called Pecan Summer, created by Deborah Cheetham.
