Lady Six Monkey (Mixtec: Ñuñuu Dzico-Coo-Yodzo) was an important ruler in the ancient Mixtec culture. She was born around 1041 in a place called Jaltepec. She passed away in 1101 in Red and White Bundle.
Lady Six Monkey was a powerful queen who ruled the city-state of Huachino. She ruled alongside her husband, King Lord Eleven Wind. She was also supposed to become the ruler of Jaltepec, following her mother, Lady Nine Wind. However, she died before she could take the throne of Jaltepec. Her story is told in old documents, especially in a book called the Codex Selden.

Lady Six Monkey became a queen in the city-state of Huachino. She ruled there from 1090 to 1101. She shared power with her husband, Lord 11 Wind 'Blood Jaguar'. He was from the city of Red and White Bundle.
Together, Lady Six Monkey and Lord Eleven Wind had children. One of their sons was Lord 4 Wind 'Fire Serpent'. He later became a king in other important cities. Another son was Lord 1 Alligator 'Ballcourt Eagle'. He became the king of Jaltepec after his grandmother.
Her Legacy
Lady Six Monkey was meant to become the main ruler of Jaltepec. This was her family's original home. She was the rightful heir to the throne. Sadly, she died in 1101 before she could take on this role.
Her life and actions are recorded in ancient Mixtec books. These books are called codices. The Codex Selden is one of the most famous. It shows pictures and stories of her life. These records help us understand the history of the Mixtec people. They also show the important role women played in their society.
