Lake Dexter is a natural freshwater lake located in southeast Winter Haven, Florida. It has a unique shape, a bit like an apostrophe. This lake covers a surface area of about 166-acre (670,000 m2).
Exploring Lake Dexter's Surroundings
Lake Dexter is surrounded by different types of land. On its east and northeast sides, you'll find homes. To the north, there are businesses. The northwest side also has houses. The entire southwest and southern shore areas are covered in grassy fields. Some parts of the lake's edge are swampy.
Fishing and Fun at Lake Dexter
Lake Dexter is a great spot for fishing! You can catch different types of fish here. The lake is home to largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie.
Right now, you can only get onto the lake using private boat ramps and docks. There are no public swimming areas. It's thought that the south and southeast shores might be public land. If so, this would be the only place where people could fish from the shore.
LEGOLAND Beach Retreat: A Lakeside Adventure
Get ready for some exciting news! On March 15, 2016, LEGOLAND announced plans for a new resort. This resort is called the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat. It's built right on the western shore of Lake Dexter.
The resort is designed like a village. It has 83 single-story buildings, which offer 166 separate rooms. Each room can sleep up to five people. This awesome addition opened in mid-2017. The area where it was built used to be a big grassy field. It's located near Register Road, which leads from LEGOLAND's main entrance.
