This community is named after the large lake it surrounds, also called Lake Poinsett. The area includes the lake itself and the small towns and homes along its shores.
A main road, U.S. Route 81, runs right through the community. It follows the western side of the lake. If you drive north on this road, you'll reach Watertown in about 24 miles. Going south for 13 miles will take you to Arlington.
