The Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary is a special natural area in northeastern Oakland County, Michigan. It covers about 76 acres (31 hectares) of land. This amazing place is looked after by the Michigan Nature Association, a group that works to protect important natural spots.

Discover Lakeville Swamp
The Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary was one of the first big projects for the Michigan Nature Association. They started working to protect this land way back in 1961. It became their fifth nature sanctuary.
What Makes It Special?
Lakeville Swamp is truly unique because it is home to more than 400 different kinds of native plants! This makes it the most diverse natural area in all of Oakland County. Imagine how many different flowers, trees, and other plants you could find there!
The sanctuary also protects several different types of natural homes, called habitats. One of the most important is a thick swamp filled with White Cedar trees. These different habitats allow many kinds of plants and animals to live and thrive.

If you visited Lakeville Swamp, you could see many beautiful wildflowers. Some of these include bright yellow marsh marigolds, tiny Twinflower blooms, and pretty Clintonia flowers. Each season brings new colors and sights to the swamp.
