History of Lakonta
Lakonta was officially planned and marked out on a map in the year 1900. This process is called "platting." The name "Lakonta" comes from Native American languages. It means "blacksmith."
A post office was opened in Lakonta in 1900. It was later renamed Truax in 1926. However, this post office closed its doors in 1934. In 1915, the population of Lakonta was 21 people.
