Lanard Copeland (born July 26, 1965) is an American-Australian professional basketball coach and former player. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in the U.S. He played in the National Basketball League (NBL) from 1992 to 2008.

Lanard Copeland's Basketball Journey
Starting His Playing Career
Lanard Copeland played basketball for four years at Georgia State University. After college, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent in 1989. He played 23 games for them in his first year.
In 1990, Copeland played for the Tulsa Fast Breakers. Later that year, he moved to the Rapid City Thrillers. He also played for the Atlanta Trojans in 1991.
On August 30, 1991, Copeland signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. He stayed with them for three months. In December 1992, he returned to the CBA league, playing for the Capital Region Pontiacs.
Playing in Australia's NBL
In 1992, Lanard Copeland moved to Australia. He joined the Melbourne Tigers basketball team. He played with the Tigers for 14 seasons, until 2005. During this time, he played 449 games. He scored 9,862 points for the team.
Copeland helped the Tigers win two league championships. They won in 1993 and again in 1997. In 1997, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the NBL Grand Final. He was also chosen for the All-NBL First Team in 1999 and 2002.
After leaving the Tigers in 2005, Copeland joined the Brisbane Bullets for one season. Then, he played for the Adelaide 36ers for two seasons. He retired from the NBL after the 2007–08 season.
In total, Lanard Copeland played 532 games in the NBL. He scored 10,735 points in his NBL career. This makes him the fourth-highest scorer in NBL history.
Lanard Copeland's Coaching Roles
After he stopped playing, Lanard Copeland became a coach. He coached the Geelong Big V Division One Men's team for a year. In 2014, he became the head coach for the Hume City Broncos. He coached them until 2016. He also coached the Haileybury College men's team, which won a championship in 2014.
On April 6, 2016, Copeland became an assistant coach for the Sydney Kings. He worked with his former teammate, Andrew Gaze, who was the head coach. Copeland left the Kings when Andrew Gaze stepped down in 2019.
In 2020, Copeland joined the Altona Gators as the men's head coach. He coached them through the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
