Lance had a post office that opened in 1894. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office stayed open for about 12 years. It closed down in 1906.
The community of Lance was named after an early settler. His name was Daniel Jefferson Lance. He was one of the first people to live and build a home in that area.
