Lance Carter (born May 11, 1955 – died November 1, 2006) was an American musician. He was a talented jazz drummer and percussionist. Lance played music for over 30 years. He was well-known for working with famous singer Cassandra Wilson. He also worked closely with musician Sonny Sharrock. Together, they even recorded the theme song for the Cartoon Network show Space Ghost Coast to Coast!

Life and Music Journey
Lance Carter was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He finished high school at Highland Park High School in 1973. After that, he went to the Berklee College of Music. There, he focused on studying percussion, which means playing drums and other instruments you hit.
In 1976, Lance moved back to New Jersey. He joined a dance band called Network. Lance Carter passed away in November 2006. He had a serious and rare bone marrow illness.
