Ancient Settlements Around Langa
Langa was one of four important places in this area. The other three were smaller villages that no longer exist today, but their stories are still told.
- Valtodano
This village was located between Langa and a place called Sauza Source. There was once a creek here that would fill up during heavy rains. A famous story from Valtodano tells of guards chasing a criminal. The criminal ran across a tricky area with 'quicksand' and got away safely. But the guards and their horses got stuck and sank!
- Narros
Narros was situated between Langa and Magaz. People say that many of the residents from Narros eventually moved to Langa. You can still see the old ruins of a church and some houses there. There are also remains of a small bridge. The Cárdenas family founded Narros after the Arabs left the area. It was likely next to a wetland with a stream, which might have been used for fishing.
- Garciávalo
The name Garciávalo comes from 'Álvarado García'. This village was located between Langa and Villanueva del Aceral. If you visit the area, you can find many old pieces of building materials around a watering hole, showing where the village once stood.
