Langville, Pennsylvania facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Langville is a small community located in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's part of the wider county area.

The Story of Langville

Langville has a simple but interesting history! The community got its name way back in 1850. It was named after a man named John Lang. He owned a special factory in the area called a woolen mill, where wool was made into cloth.

Later, in 1886, Langville even had its own post office! This was a big deal because it made it easier for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, helping people connect with others. It stayed open until 1918, when it eventually closed down.
