Lara Mori (born July 26, 1998) is a talented former Italian gymnast. She proudly represented Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Lara is famous for winning gold medals at the 2018 Mediterranean Games in the all-around competition, on the floor exercise, and with her Italian team. She also earned a silver medal on the balance beam and a bronze medal with her team at the 2019 Summer Universiade.

Lara Mori's Early Gymnastics Career
Lara Mori started her international gymnastics journey as a junior.
Junior Competitions and Medals
Lara first competed internationally at the 2012 City of Jesolo Trophy. There, she helped the Italian team win a silver medal, finishing second only to the United States. She also placed sixth in the all-around competition by herself.
Later that year, Lara joined Elisa Meneghini, Enus Mariani, Tea Ugrin, and Alessia Leolini at the 2012 Junior European Championships. Together, they won another team silver medal, coming in second to Russia. In 2013, Lara was chosen for the 2013 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival with Martina Rizzelli and Tea Ugrin. Their team finished fifth, and Lara placed thirteenth in the all-around final.
Lara Mori's Senior Gymnastics Career
Lara Mori began competing as a senior gymnast in 2014.
2014: Senior Debut and World Championships
Lara started her senior career at the 1st Italian Serie A, helping her club, Ginnica Giglio, finish fifth. Her club then won a silver medal at the 2nd Italian Serie A. Lara made her senior international debut at the City of Jesolo Trophy, where the Italian team earned a silver medal behind the United States.
At the Italian Championships, Lara finished sixth in the all-around. She placed fourth on the uneven bars and won a silver medal on the floor exercise. She then helped Italy win a team gold medal at the Novara Cup. Lara also competed at the World Championships with her teammates, and they finished fifth in the team final.
2015: Overcoming Injury
In 2015, Lara faced an ankle injury in March. She returned to competition in September at the Golden League, where she won a bronze medal on the balance beam. At the Italian Championships, she earned a bronze medal on the uneven bars and a silver medal on the balance beam. Lara competed at the 2015 World Championships, where the Italian team finished seventh.
2016: Olympic Alternate
Lara continued to perform well in 2016. She consistently won bronze medals in the all-around at the Italian Serie A competitions. She also competed at the Olympic Test Event, finishing fifteenth in the all-around. At the European Championships, her team finished fifth. Lara was chosen as the alternate for the Italian team at the 2016 Olympic Games.
2017: World Championships Finals
In 2017, Lara showed strong performances, especially on the floor exercise. At the European Championships, she reached the floor exercise final and finished fifth. She also won a gold medal on the floor exercise at the Italian Championships. Later, at the World Championships, Lara finished twelfth in the all-around final and sixth in the floor exercise final, showing her skill on the world stage.
2018: Mediterranean Games Champion
The year 2018 was a highlight for Lara. She helped the Italian team win a bronze medal at the City of Jesolo Trophy. She was then selected to represent Italy at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. There, she led her team to a gold medal. Lara also won two individual gold medals: one in the all-around competition and another on the floor exercise. She continued her success by winning another gold medal on the floor exercise at the Italian Championships.
2019: Universiade Success
In 2019, Lara won a silver medal in the all-around at the 1st Italian Serie A. She then earned two silver medals on the floor exercise at the Baku World Cup and Doha World Cup. Lara represented Italy at the 2019 Summer Universiade, where her team won a bronze medal. She also won a silver medal on the balance beam.
2020: Olympic Qualification Points
Lara started 2020 by winning a bronze medal on the floor exercise at the Melbourne World Cup. She qualified in first place for the floor exercise final at the Baku World Cup. However, the finals were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan. The International Gymnastics Federation decided that the qualification results would count for Olympic qualification points, meaning Lara earned 30 points for her first-place finish.
2021: Competing at the Olympics
In 2021, Lara continued to compete, earning a silver medal on the floor exercise at the Doha World Cup. An unexpected opportunity arose for Lara to compete at the Olympics. When teammate Giorgia Villa was injured, Vanessa Ferrari took her spot on the Italian team. This meant Lara received Vanessa's individual Olympic spot. Lara proudly represented Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She performed on the balance beam and floor exercise in the qualification round.
