Lara Mori is a former Italian artistic gymnast who competed for Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is known for her powerful performances, especially on the floor exercise.

During her career, Mori won several major medals. At the 2018 Mediterranean Games, she won three gold medals: in the all-around, on the floor exercise, and with the Italian team. She also earned a silver medal on the balance beam and a team bronze medal at the 2019 Summer Universiade.

Early Gymnastics Career

Lara Mori began her international journey as a junior gymnast. In 2012, she competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy, where she helped the Italian team win a silver medal. That same year, she was part of the Italian team that won another silver medal at the Junior European Championships.

The next year, Mori competed at the 2013 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival. She and her teammates finished in fifth place. Individually, Mori placed thirteenth in the all-around competition, which tests a gymnast's skills on all four events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.

Joining the Senior Team

First Years as a Senior

In 2014, Mori moved up to the senior level. She made her senior international debut at the City of Jesolo Trophy, helping Italy win another silver medal. Later that year, she competed at the World Championships. The Italian team finished in a strong fifth place. Mori also won a silver medal on floor exercise at the Italian Championships.

The following year, in 2015, Mori faced a setback with an ankle injury. However, she recovered and returned to competition. She was selected for the 2015 World Championships team, which finished seventh.

In 2016, Mori competed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event to help Italy qualify for the Olympic Games. She also competed at the European Championships, where the Italian team placed fifth. Although she was not on the main team for the 2016 Rio Olympics, she was chosen as the team's alternate.

In 2017, Mori had a great year. She won the gold medal on the floor exercise at the Italian Championships. At the World Championships, she made it to two finals, finishing twelfth in the all-around and sixth on the floor exercise.

Major Victories and World Cups

Mediterranean Games Champion

2018 was a standout year for Lara Mori. At the Mediterranean Games, she had an amazing performance. She won the gold medal in the individual all-around competition, proving she was the best all-around gymnast at the event. She also won a gold medal for her floor exercise routine and another gold with the Italian team.

She continued to compete at the World Championships and began competing in the World Cup series. The World Cup events were important because they offered a path to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Success in 2019 and 2020

In 2019, Mori won several medals at FIG World Cup events, including two silver medals on the floor exercise. She also competed at the 2019 Summer Universiade, a major international event for student-athletes. There, she won a silver medal on the balance beam and a bronze medal with her team.

In 2020, Mori continued to compete in the World Cup series. At the Melbourne World Cup, she won a bronze medal on the floor. At the Baku World Cup, she qualified for the floor final in first place. The finals were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but her top score in the qualification round still earned her important points for Olympic qualification.

Competing at the Olympic Games

In 2021, Mori's hard work paid off. After another gymnast on the Italian team was injured, a spot on the Olympic team opened up. Because of her strong performances in the World Cup series, Lara Mori was chosen to represent Italy at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

At the Olympics, she competed on the balance beam and the floor exercise. While she did not qualify for the event finals, competing at the Olympic Games was a huge achievement and the highlight of her career. After a long and successful career, Mori retired from gymnastics.
