Laredo is a city in Peru. It is the main city of the Laredo District. Laredo is about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) from Trujillo. It is located in the La Libertad Region.

How Laredo Became a City
Laredo's population grew over time. Because of this growth, local leaders asked the president for a change. President Alan Garcia signed a special law on June 19, 1990. This law officially made Laredo a city. It also made the city's borders larger.
