The Larochelle River (rivière Larochelle in French) is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Bécancour River. The river runs through the towns of Saint-Julien and Irlande. These towns are part of the Les Appalaches Regional County Municipality (MRC). This area is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec.
Where the River Flows
The Larochelle River starts high up in the mountains. Its source is about 1.7 kilometers (1.1 miles) west of the village of Saint-Julien. This starting point is also about 4.1 kilometers (2.5 miles) northeast of Saint-Fortunat.
The river flows for about 15.7 kilometers (9.8 miles). It generally flows north and east through the landscape. Along its journey, it passes through different areas.
The Larochelle River eventually joins the Bécancour River. This meeting point is on the west side of the Bécancour River. It is located near a place called "Maple Grove." This spot is also close to "Lac à la Truite" (Trout Lake).
River's Name
The name "rivière Larochelle" was officially recognized. This happened on August 17, 1978. The name was made official by the Commission de toponymie du Québec. This commission is in charge of naming places in Quebec.
