Early Life and Education
Larry Jenkins was born on Long Island, New York. He went to Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois. While in high school, he played on both the baseball and bowling teams.
After high school, Larry attended Olive–Harvey College for a year. He then studied at Southern Illinois University for another year. Later, he moved to California to go to Pepperdine University. He chose this school so he could start his acting career. He was a great student and made the Dean's List at all his colleges.

Larry Jenkins starred in several television series. He played Wardell Stone in the popular show The White Shadow. He also appeared in Bay City Blues and Finder of Lost Loves.
He was also known for his smaller, but memorable, roles in movies. For example, he played a character named Gummy in the film Fletch. He also appeared in the classic movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

In October 2005, Larry Jenkins started his own companies. These were called Flashworks Productions and Gold Coast Productions LLC. Both were based in Los Angeles, California.
He worked on many projects as a writer, producer, and director. He wrote, produced, directed, and even acted in the comedy film Marriage Vows. He also worked on the gospel musical film Don't Touch, If You Ain't Prayed. Another project was the gospel/romantic comedy House of Grace. Larry also wrote and produced Pastor Jones. He produced the hip hop comedy Ms. B's Hair Salon. He was also a co-producer and co-star in the film Brothers in Arms.
Personal Life
Larry Jenkins was married twice. He was married to Michele Jenkins from 1984 to 1996. In 1997, he married Jean Coleman Jenkins. They lived in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. Larry had one son named Jeffrey.
He was also an active member of the West Angeles Church of God in Los Angeles. He worked with Bishop Charles E. Blake and took part in many church activities. This included playing on the church's basketball team.
Larry Jenkins passed away on April 25, 2019. He was 63 years old. He died in Los Angeles, California, from a heart attack.
