Early Life and High School Basketball

Larry Fogle was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up playing basketball at Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan. He was a very talented player.

In February 1972, Larry set an amazing record. He scored 73 points in a single game against Cody High School! This was a city league record. Because of his great skills, the Detroit News newspaper named him Michigan High School Player of the Year.

College Career Highlights

After high school, Larry Fogle played college basketball. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (which is now called the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). He also played for Canisius College.

Larry was a 6-foot-5-inch guard. In the 1973–74 season, he was incredible. He led the entire NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) in scoring. He averaged 33.4 points per game and also grabbed 14 rebounds per game. A rebound is when a player gets the ball after a missed shot.
