Las Labores is in the northeast part of Ciudad Real province. It covers about 34 square kilometers. It shares borders with other towns. To the north is Herencia, and to the east is Puerto Lápice. Arenas de San Juan is to the south, and Villarrubia de los Ojos is to the west.
History of Las Labores
For a long time, until the 1600s, Las Labores was known by a different name: "The Other Houses." It started as a small village that belonged to the town of Arenas de San Juan. People from Herencia built houses here to work the land.
The land in Las Labores was healthier. It was further away from the wet, marshy areas of Daimiel. This meant the water didn't stay still, which was better for farming. Because of the good land, more people decided to live there permanently. On January 22, 1843, Las Labores became an independent town.
