Las Navas del Marqués is a lovely town in the province of Ávila, Castile and León, Spain. It's about 82 kilometers (around 50 miles) northwest of Madrid. You can easily get there by car or train from Madrid or Ávila. Even if the train station is a bit outside town, buses are ready to take you the rest of the way.

In 2018, about 5,139 people lived here. But in summer, the town gets super busy! Its population can become five times bigger. Many people from Madrid come to Las Navas del Marqués to escape the city heat and enjoy the cooler mountain air.

Las Navas del Marqués is right in the middle of Spain. It sits between the tall Gredos and Guadarrama mountains. The town is high up, about 1,300 meters (4,265 feet) above sea level. The weather here is a mix of mountain and Mediterranean climates. Winters are very cold, but summers are usually mild or warm.

The festival week starts with a big fireworks display. During the week, there are lots of fun activities. You can watch races, join in sports, and even see food competitions. There are also bullfights and outdoor dances where everyone can join in the fun.

Another special event is the Valladal Pilgrimage on August 15th. People dress up in costumes for this day. They travel to the countryside in decorated floats and on horses. Once there, everyone has lunch together and plays traditional games. These games include the greasy pole and sack races. At the end, they even pick the best float and the best horse!
