History of Lascano
Lascano started as a small village. It was founded on February 10, 1876. The land belonged to two ranchers, Don Francisco Fernández and Don Francisco Lascano. Even though Don Lascano owned a smaller piece of land, the village was named after him. This was because his name was on the official founding papers.
In 1880, Lascano became part of the new Rocha Department. Over time, the village grew bigger. On July 4, 1908, it officially became a "Villa," which means a town. Later, on November 3, 1952, it was given the title of "Ciudad," meaning a city.
