Lateef Oludare Raji (born October 12, 1962 – died August 14, 2017) was an important Nigerian leader. He served as an adviser on information and strategy to the former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola. He also worked as a commissioner for another former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu. Before he passed away, he was a member of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) committee.

Early Life and Schooling

Lateef Raji was born in Ondo State, Nigeria. He started his education at Irekari Grammar School in Idoani, from 1974 to 1978. After that, he went to New Church High School in Owo, Ondo State, in 1978. He finished his Ordinary Level School Certificate in 1980.

He then went to the University of Lagos to study history. He earned his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), in 1997. He continued his studies and received a master's degree in History in 2000.

Career and Political Journey

Lateef Raji began his career as an Editor at Ahrada West African Publishing. He worked there from 1996 to 2000. Later, he was promoted to Editor-in-Chief of the same company, a role he held from 2000 to 2003.

He also represented Nigeria at the World Education Resources Centre in the United Kingdom. This was between 2003 and 2007. After that, he became the managing director and chief executive officer of Thrazel Nigerian.

Entering Politics

Raji started his political journey in 1999. He became the secretary for the Alliance for Democracy party in Lagos State. When the party split into different groups, he became the chairman of one of them.

He is also known for helping to design the logo for the All Progressives Congress (APC). His hand holding a broom is part of the party's symbol. This symbol was first used when the party was called Action Congress of Nigeria and continued when it became the APC.

Public Service Roles

In 2011, he ran for a seat in the House of Representatives. He wanted to represent the Osodi/Isolo area. Although he didn't get the party's nomination, he was later appointed.

He became a Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. He served the former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, from 2011 to 2015.

In 2015, he tried again to represent his area, Osodi/Isolo, in the House of Representatives. He did not win the party's nomination that time. Later, in 2016, he aimed to become the governor of Ondo State for the APC.

On June 29, 2016, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode appointed him. He became a member of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) committee.

Family Life

Lateef Raji was a Muslim. He was married to Alhaja Raji, and together they had four children.

Passing Away

Lateef Raji passed away on August 14, 2017. He had been ill for some time. He was buried on the same day in his hometown of Idoani, Ondo State. The burial followed Islamic traditions.
