Lateefa Buti (Arabic: لطيفة بطي) is a talented writer from Kuwait. She is well-known for writing many wonderful books for children. One of her most famous books is Hatless. This book won a special prize called the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in 2017. This award is a very important honor in the world of books! Hatless was also translated into English by Nancy Roberts so more children could read it.

Lateefa Buti's Career
Lateefa Buti started her writing journey by publishing two collections of short stories. These included The Mermaid and My Country, Ininkayo. In 2003, she began writing books especially for children.
She has written many stories for Al Arabi Al Sagheer, a magazine for children in Kuwait. Some of these stories are Salem and Salma and My City Kuwait. She also wrote stories about cultural heritage and folklore for TV channels like Al Jazeera Children's Channel and Al Baraem Channel.
Awards and Achievements
Lateefa Buti has won several important awards for her writing.
- She won first place in the Children's Theater Writing Competition in Kuwait.
- She also won second place in the Children's Theater Writing Competition for the whole Arab world in 2013. This competition was held by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Literature in Kuwait.
- In 2017, she won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Children's Literature for her book Hatless.
Lateefa Buti is also the person who started Dar al-Ruslan for publishing. This is the very first publishing house in Kuwait that focuses only on children's books.
