Laura Bowman's Early Life and Stage Adventures
Laura Bowman was born in Quincy, Illinois. She grew up in Cincinnati. Early in the 1900s, she performed in a show called In Dahomey in London. She was with her husband, Pete Hampton, at that time.
In 1916, Laura joined the Lafayette Players. This was a famous acting group from Harlem, New York. She worked with them for several years, performing in many plays.
