Laura Bretan (born April 7, 2002) is a talented singer known for her powerful soprano voice. She is from both Romania and the United States. Laura became famous after winning Romania's Got Talent in 2016. Later that same year, she also placed sixth in America's Got Talent.

Early Life and Singing Beginnings
Laura Bretan was born in Chicago, USA. Her parents are from Romania. She started singing when she was six years old. Her mother taught her how to sing. When Laura was eight, she began singing at the Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church. Both Laura and her parents are active members of their church community.
Laura's Journey to Fame
Winning Romania's Got Talent
In 2016, Laura Bretan won Romania's Got Talent. This big win made her very well-known in Romania.
Competing on America's Got Talent
After her win in Romania, Laura tried out for America's Got Talent. She sang a famous opera song called "Nessun dorma". The judges, including Simon Cowell and Mel B, loved her performance. Mel B even pressed her special "golden buzzer." This sent Laura straight to the quarterfinals!
Advancing to the Finals
Laura performed well in the live shows. She moved on to the semifinals with votes from the audience. In the semifinals, she gave another amazing performance. She won the judges' vote and made it to the finals.
Performing in the Grand Finale
In the finals, Laura sang "O mio babbino caro". The judges gave her great reviews. Heidi Klum told her, "Today you look like a princess, but tonight you rule the stage like a queen." Laura finished in sixth place overall.
Other Notable Performances
In 2017, Laura sang "I Dreamed a Dream" in the finale of The Voice Kids Romania. In December 2018, she was a semi-finalist for Romania's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. She sang her song "Dear Father." She won the public vote but finished third with the jury. This made her the runner-up overall.
On September 15, 2023, Laura sang "Adagio" with its original singer, Lara Fabian. This was for the anniversary concert of Gheorghe Zamfir.
