Laura Cardoso, whose real name is Laurinda de Jesus Cardoso Balleroni, was born on September 13, 1927. She is a very famous Brazilian actress. Many people consider her one of the best actresses in Brazil. She has starred in movies, plays, and TV shows.

Early Life and Dreams

Laurinda de Jesus Cardoso was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Her parents were immigrants from Portugal. When Laura was young, she knew she wanted to be an actress. Her parents were not sure about it at first.

But by the time she was 15, Laura was certain. She decided to follow her dream. She started her acting career in radio soap operas at Radio Cosmos.

A Long Acting Career

Laura Cardoso began her TV career when she was still young. Her first TV show was Tribunal do Coração in 1952 on Rede Tupi. She acted in many telenovelas, which are like long TV dramas. One of her early roles was in Um Lugar ao Sol (1959). She also appeared in Ídolo de Pano (1975).

Laura worked for several TV channels. These included TV Excelsior, RecordTV, and TV Cultura.

Joining Rede Globo

After focusing on theater for two years, Laura joined Rede Globo in 1981. This was for the telenovela Brilhante. In 1982, she starred in Ninho de Serpente and Renúncia on TV Bandeirantes.

She then returned to Globo TV. There, she acted in three telenovelas by Walther Negrão. These were Pão-Pão, Beijo-Beijo (1983), Livre para Voar (1984), and Fera Radical (1988).

Famous Roles and Remakes

Laura Cardoso continued to take on many important roles. She was in Rainha da Sucata (1990) and Felicidade (1991). She also starred in remakes of two very popular telenovelas. These were Mulheres de Areia (1993) and A Viagem (1994).

In 1995, Laura appeared in Irmãos Coragem. She also acted in Explode Coração, which was the first telenovela filmed at Projac. Projac is now known as Estúdios Globo.

After a short time at RecordTV, she returned to Globo. In 2001, she starred in A Padroeira. She then played Madalena in Esperança (2002). In 2003, she was Carmen in Chocolate com Pimenta.

Later Career Highlights

In 2005, Laura Cardoso was in the mini-series Hoje É Dia de Maria. She also joined the cast of O Profeta (2006). In 2007, she appeared in Duas Caras.

A memorable role was Laksmi Ananda in Caminho das Índias (2009). In 2010, she played Mariquita in Araguaia. In 2012, she starred as Dorotéia in the remake of Gabriela.

In 2014, she appeared in three Globo productions. These included the TV series Segunda Dama and the telenovelas Império and Boogie Oogie.

On April 26, 2024, Laura Cardoso received a special tribute. This tribute was on the GloboPlay streaming service in Brazil.
