Lavender is a small place located in Floyd County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a mayor or city council, but are part of the larger county.
History of Lavender
The community of Lavender got its name from a person named George Michael Lavender. He used to own and run a store in the area. A post office was opened in Lavender in 1889. This post office helped people send and receive mail in the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1910.
