Lee Hardcastle studied filmmaking at the Northern Film School. This school is part of Leeds Beckett University in England. In the mid-2000s, he started sharing his clay animations online. He uploaded them to YouTube, where many people could watch his unique creations.

Becoming a Noted Animator

Hardcastle became well-known for his creative work. In 2011, he was chosen to direct a short film for a bigger movie project. He created an animated short for the film The ABCs of Death. He also directed and animated a music video for the song "Blvck Mvgic (Kill the Noise Pt. 2)" by the artist Kill the Noise.

Viral Videos and Fan Favorites

In 2012, Lee Hardcastle released a clay animation short film on YouTube. It was called Pingu's The Thing. This video was a fun mix of the popular clay-animated TV show Pingu and the 1982 science fiction movie The Thing. The video quickly became very popular online, meaning lots of people watched and shared it. Even John Carpenter, who directed The Thing, praised Hardcastle's work!

However, the owners of Pingu asked for the video to be removed from YouTube. Lee Hardcastle then made a new version of the video. He called it Claycat's The Thing. This time, instead of penguins, he used cats to tell the story!
