Leesville, Missouri facts for kids
Leesville is a small, quiet place in Henry County, which is a part of the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the county.
A Look Back at Leesville's History
Leesville has an interesting past! It wasn't always called Leesville. When it was first started, back in 1854, it was known as "Tebo." This was when the area was first platted, which means its streets and land lots were officially mapped out.
A few years later, in 1857, a post office was opened in the community, and that's when the name Leesville was first used. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years, staying open until 1918. The name "Leesville" was chosen to honor an important early settler named Andrew Jackson Lee.
