Henry County is a county in the western part of Missouri, a state in the United States. In 2020, about 21,946 people lived here. The main town and county seat is Clinton.
Henry County was first created on December 13, 1834. It was originally called Rives County. Later, in 1841, its name was changed. The county was renamed after Patrick Henry, a famous hero from the American Revolutionary War. The first name, Rives County, honored William Cabell Rives. He was a U.S. Senator from Virginia. However, he became less popular in Missouri when he joined the Whig Party.
