History
The Mi'kmaq people have lived on the lands that are now Prince Edward Island for more than 10,000 years. They have a very long and rich history in this area.
Another reserve, called Lennox Island 1, is famous for being the first reserve in Canada that its own people bought. This happened in 1878, with help from a group called the Aboriginal Protection Society.
The land known as Lennox Island 6 was bought by the Lennox Island First Nation in 2009. This purchase helped them get back more of their traditional lands.
