The Railway That Ran Through Lenow
Long ago, an important train track passed right through Lenow. This was part of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway. This railway was a key connection between two big cities: Memphis and Nashville.
Trains used this route to carry people and goods across the state. The tracks followed a path near Lenow Road, which was also an important travel route.
Why the Railway Was Removed
Over time, things changed. In 1968, the railway line through Lenow was considered "nonessential." This meant it was no longer seen as a main or needed route for trains. Because of this, the tracks were taken up that year. Today, you won't find the trains running through Lenow anymore.
