Lenzie Howell (born December 24, 1967 – died July 18, 2020) was an American basketball player. He was 6 feet 4 inches tall and played as a small forward. This position is usually for players who are good at scoring and rebounding. Lenzie played college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks for two seasons.

His College Days

During his time playing college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Lenzie Howell was a very important player. He earned several special awards.

  • In 1989, he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Southwest Conference tournament. This award goes to the best player in the tournament.
  • He was also chosen for the 1990 NCAA tournament Midwest Regional Team. He won the Most Outstanding Player award for that region too!
  • One of his best games was on February 21, 1990, against Texas A&M. He scored 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and made four assists.
  • Lenzie was great at following up shots and getting rebounds, even when playing against taller opponents. He was the top scorer for Arkansas in the 1990 tournament.

Playing Pro in Europe

After his college career, Lenzie Howell played professional basketball in Europe for about ten years. He played for several teams in different countries.

  • While playing for a team called Computerij Meppel in the Netherlands, he was named the Dutch League Most Valuable Player twice. This means he was considered the best player in the entire league in both 1991 and 1992.
  • He also won the Dutch League Dunk champion award in 1992, showing off his amazing dunking skills!
  • In 1996, he was the leading scorer in the Belgium league.
