Leon Taylor (born on May 19, 1993) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a forward, which means he's usually trying to score goals for his team.
Early Life and College Soccer
Leon Taylor grew up in Dallas, Texas. He went to Plano West Senior High School. There, he was a talented athlete, playing both American football and soccer.
In 2010, Leon had a special chance to play soccer in Bolivia. He joined a team called Club Bolívar for a short time. He even came back to the U.S. to play in the Dallas Cup with the Bolivian team.
After high school, Leon played college soccer. He started at Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma. Later, he moved to the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Finally, he played for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
Beginning a Professional Career
While still in college, Leon also played for some semi-professional teams. These teams are a great way for young players to gain experience. He played for the Laredo Heat and the Midland-Odessa Sockers FC. Both teams were part of the Premier Development League, which is a league for developing soccer talent.
After finishing college, Leon took a big step in his career. He signed a contract to play in Sweden! In 2017, he joined Bodens BK in the Swedish Division 2. He quickly became a key player for the team. Leon was known for scoring goals and helping his teammates score too. He led the team in both goals and assists.
Soon after his time in Sweden, Leon returned to the United States. He then signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. This team plays in a higher professional league in the U.S.
