Leonard Harry Perroots (born April 24, 1933 – died January 29, 2017) was an important leader in the United States Air Force. He served his country for many years.

From October 1985 to December 1988, he was the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. This agency helps the U.S. military and government understand information about other countries.

Lieutenant General Perroots is known for helping to prevent a nuclear war in 1983. This happened during an event called Able Archer 83. He was working with the U.S. Air Forces in Europe at the time. His actions helped keep the peace with the Soviet Union.

He retired from the military on January 1, 1989. After that, he worked for a company that helped the CIA and the U.S. military. Leonard Perroots passed away in 2017 when he was 83 years old.
