Lepperton is a small village located in the northern part of Taranaki, New Zealand. It's about 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles) inland from the town of Waitara. You can find it near the Waitara River and not far from State Highway 3A, which connects Inglewood to Waitara.

Kairoa Pa: A Historic Site

Near Lepperton, there's an important historical place called Kairoa Pa. A "pa" is a traditional Māori fortified village or settlement. Kairoa Pa was a significant center for local Māori communities long ago.

It's also where the Whakaahurangi track begins. This track was an old pathway that connected the northern and southern parts of Taranaki. It was used for travel and trade before British settlers arrived in the area.

Education in Lepperton

Lepperton has its own school, called Lepperton School. It's a primary school for both boys and girls, teaching students from Year 1 to Year 6. The school first opened its doors in 1870, making it a long-standing part of the community. As of 2024, it has about 190 students.
