Les McDonald (born April 30, 1933 – died September 4, 2017) was a Canadian athlete and sports leader. He helped create the sport of triathlon as we know it today.

Les McDonald was the first President of the International Triathlon Union (ITU). He led the organization from 1989 to 2008. After that, he became an Honorary President until he passed away in 2017.

He is best known for helping to get triathlon into the Olympic Games. The first Olympic triathlon race happened at the Sydney Olympics in Australia in 2000.
