Lesa Lewis, born on March 9, 1967, is a famous American professional female bodybuilder. People often call her "Amazon" because of her strong and powerful build.

Early Life and Sports

Lesa Lewis was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in the United States. She grew up in a big family with three brothers and three sisters. When she was in high school, Lesa was very active in sports. She enjoyed running track, playing basketball, dancing, and swimming.

After high school, she went to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for a year. There, she continued to run sprints in track events. She competed in races like the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter dashes. She also ran in 400-meter relay races. Later, Lesa left college to work as a freelance designer. She designed clothes, hats, and shoes. After a few years, she started working in construction.

Becoming a Bodybuilder

Starting as an Amateur

In 1992, Lesa Lewis began to lift weights. She wanted to get fit and strong. While training at a gym, another bodybuilder noticed her muscular legs. This person suggested that Lesa should try bodybuilding. She decided to give it a try.

By 1994, Lesa started working with a coach named Tim Lutz. He helped her train for competitions. In 1997, Lesa competed in the USA Championship. She won first place in her weight group, which was the heavyweight category. She also won the overall title. This big win earned her an IFBB pro card. This card meant she could now compete as a professional bodybuilder.

Professional Competitions

After becoming a professional, Lesa Lewis competed in many major events. In 1998, she placed second at the Ms. International competition. However, she was later disqualified from this contest. This happened because of a test taken after the competition.
