About Lesa Lewis
Her Early Life
Lesa Lewis grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.. She had a big family with three brothers and three sisters. When she was in high school, Lesa was very active. She enjoyed running track, playing basketball, dancing, and swimming.
She went to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for one year. There, she ran in sprint races like the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter events. She also ran in 400-meter relay races. After college, she worked as a designer. She created her own clothing, hats, and shoes. Later, she started working in construction.
Her Bodybuilding Journey
Lesa Lewis began weight training in 1992. She wanted to get fit and strong. While working out at a gym, another bodybuilder noticed her strong legs. He suggested she try bodybuilding. This sparked her interest in the sport.
In 1994, Tim Lutz became her coach. He helped her train and prepare for competitions. Lesa worked very hard. In 1997, she competed in the USA Championship. She won first place in her weight class. She also won the overall title, which meant she was the best among all competitors. This win earned her an IFBB pro card. This card allowed her to compete as a professional bodybuilder.
Professional Competitions
As a professional, Lesa Lewis competed against top bodybuilders. In 1998, she placed second at the Ms. International competition. However, her results were later changed. She was disqualified from the contest.
Later that year, she won the IFBB Jan Tana Classic. This was a big achievement for her. She also placed fourth at the Ms. Olympia competition in 1998. Ms. Olympia is one of the most important bodybuilding contests.
Lesa continued to compete in many major shows. She placed second again at the Ms. International in 1999. She also earned a fifth-place finish at the Ms. Olympia that same year. In 2000, she placed third in her weight class at the Ms. Olympia. She retired from professional bodybuilding in 2002.
