Who is Leszek Blanik?
Leszek Blanik comes from Wodzisław Śląski, a city in Poland. He became one of the world's top gymnasts, especially in the vault. The vault is an exciting gymnastics event where athletes run, jump onto a springboard, and perform amazing flips and twists over a piece of equipment called a vaulting table.
His Amazing Vault Skill
Leszek Blanik was the first gymnast to perform a very difficult move. It was called a "handspring double front vault in piked position". This amazing skill was so unique and challenging that it was officially named the "Blanik" vault! It's a huge honor for a gymnast to have a move named after them.
Olympic Games Achievements
Leszek Blanik had a fantastic career at the Olympic Games. He competed against the best gymnasts from all over the world. His hard work and dedication led him to win two Olympic medals.
Sydney 2000: A Bronze Medal

Gold in Stuttgart (2007)
In 2007, Leszek Blanik won a gold medal in the vault event. This happened at the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. This victory was extra special because it helped him qualify directly for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Silver Medals (2002 & 2005)
Before his gold medal win, Leszek also earned two silver medals at the World Championships. He won silver in 2002 at the championships in Debrecen, and again in 2005 in Melbourne. These medals showed his consistent excellence in the sport. He also won a silver medal at the World Cup Final in Stuttgart in 2002.
European Championships
Leszek Blanik also competed successfully at the European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won a gold medal in 2008 in Lausanne and a bronze medal in 2004 in Ljubljana, both in the vault event.
