Lewis Ernest Fiander (born January 12, 1938 – died May 24, 2016) was a talented actor from Australia. He was known for his work in movies, on stage, and in television shows.

About Lewis Fiander
Lewis Fiander was born in Melbourne, Australia. His parents were Mona Jane and Walter Lewis Fiander. He went to Trinity Grammar School in Kew for his education.
After school, Lewis moved to the United Kingdom to start his acting career. One of his first big roles there was in a play called The One Day of the Year.
His Work in Television
Lewis Fiander had many important roles on television. His first major TV part was playing Mr. Darcy in the BBC's first color version of Pride and Prejudice in 1967. This was a very famous role.
Later, in the 1970s, he appeared in the popular science fiction show Doctor Who. He played Professor Tryst in an episode called "Nightmare of Eden". He even talked with his friend Tom Baker, who played the Doctor, about giving his character a special alien accent!
His Stage Career
Lewis Fiander also loved acting in plays and musicals. In 1970, he was the first actor to play John Adams in the London stage show of 1776. He later played this role in Australia too.
He also performed in other musicals in London's West End. These included playing Lord Melbourne and Disraeli in I and Albert, Coward in Noel and Gertie, and Puccini in Cafe Puccini.
Movies and Radio
Lewis Fiander acted in several movies. Some of his films include I Start Counting (1970), Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971), and Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972). He also appeared in Who Can Kill a Child? (1976) and Sweeney 2 (1978).
On the radio, he played the main character in a comedy series called Patterson.
Returning to Australia
In the early 1980s, Lewis Fiander moved back to Australia. He continued his acting career there.
In 2004, he lent his voice to an animated film called The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello. He voiced the character of Kemp, an airship engineer. This film was even nominated for an Oscar!
Lewis Fiander's last known movie role was in a short film called Two Moments in Time. He filmed his scenes in late 2015. The movie was finished in 2017 and shown at the St. Kilda Film Festival in 2018.
Lewis Fiander passed away on May 24, 2016.
