Discovering the Life Savers Building
This important building is five stories tall. It is made from strong materials like reinforced concrete, brick, and terra cotta. For many years, the building had cool, giant replicas of Life Savers candy rolls. These huge candy shapes were placed along the bottom of the building. They showed everyone what was made inside!
A Sweet History: Candy Production
During its busiest time, in the 1960s, the factory was a candy-making powerhouse. Workers there produced an amazing amount of candy. Each year, they made as many as 616 million rolls of Life Savers! That's a lot of candy for people to enjoy.
Recognized as a Historic Place
Because of its important past, the Life Savers Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. This means it is a special building that is protected for its history. The giant Life Savers rolls that once decorated the building have since been removed.
