Lili Wieruszowski (born December 10, 1899 – died March 2, 1971) was a talented German composer and organist. She was born in Cologne, Germany. Later, she lived for many years in Basel, Switzerland. She created many beautiful pieces of music.

Early Life and Education

Lili was one of four daughters. Her parents were Alfred Ludwig Wieruszowski and Jenny Wieruszowski. Her mother, Jenny, was a strong supporter of women's rights. Lili's parents even helped start a high school for girls in Cologne. Her sister, Helene, grew up to be a famous historian. Lili's family changed their religion from Judaism to Protestantism. They raised their daughters as Protestants.

Lili loved music from a young age. She studied music at the Cologne Conservatory. After that, she continued her music studies at the Berlin University of Music.

A Talented Organist and Composer

In 1925, Lili Wieruszowski got a job as an organist. She played the organ for the Epiphany Congregation in Charlottenburg, Germany. However, her job ended in 1933. She was stopped from playing the organ in Germany. This was because of her family's Jewish background.

Because of this, Lili moved to Basel, Switzerland. There, she became very well known. During the 1940s and 1950s, people recognized her as a great organist and composer. Many music publishers printed her works. These included Schott, Foetisch, Krumpholtz, and Zwingli Verlag.

Lili Wieruszowski wrote many different kinds of music. She composed pieces for the organ. She also wrote many vocal pieces.
