Lillian Mbabazi (born on August 28, 1984) is a talented singer and entertainer from Rwanda and Uganda. She was part of a popular Ugandan girl group called the Blu*3. In 2014, she also appeared on Coke Studio Africa, a show where different artists work together.

Early Life and Music Journey

Lillian Mbabazi was born in Uganda. Her parents were from Rwanda. Her music style is often described as neo-soul, which is a modern type of R&B music.

Starting in Music

Lillian began her professional music career in 2003. This happened after she took part in the Coca-Cola Pop Star competitions. These competitions led to the creation of the music group the Blu*3.

With the Blu*3, Lillian achieved great success. They won several awards, including:

  • Best Artist/Group from Uganda at the 2005 Kisima Music Awards.
  • Best Music Video from Uganda at the 2005 Kisima Music Awards.
  • Video of the Year for their song "Hitaji" at the 2005 Pearl of Africa Music Awards.
  • Video of the Year for "Burrn" at the 2007 Pearl of Africa Music Awards.

The group was also nominated for Best East African Group at the 2005 Kora Awards. They won the Best East African Album award for Hitaji at the 2005 Tanzania Music Awards. Their video for "Frisky" won Best East African Video at the 2006 Channel O Music Video Awards.

In 2009, the Blu*3 was nominated for Best Group and Best Performer at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards. In 2010, Lillian was nominated for Best East African Song for "Where you are" with Radio & Weasel at the 2010 Tanzania music awards.

Solo Career and Collaborations

In 2010, Lillian started her solo music career. She has released many successful songs on her own. Some of her popular songs include "Vitamin" (with Weasel from Goodlyfe Crew), "Kawa," and "Danger."

She has also worked with other artists like Goodlyfe Crew, Navio, AY, P-Unit, and Kitoko. In 2016, Lillian won her first award as a solo artist at the HiPipo Music Awards for her song "Memories," which she sang with A Pass.

In 2020, she released an album called One Ep. This album featured her newest songs and collaborations.

Working in Radio

Besides music, Lillian Mbabazi also worked as a radio presenter. She joined 91.3 Capital FM, which is a popular radio station in Uganda. She later left Capital FM to focus more on her music career. After that, she joined City Radio.

Personal Life

Lillian Mbabazi had two children with the late musician Mowzey Radio (who passed away on February 1, 2018). They had known each other since their time at Makerere University.
