Lily Pond is a small, unincorporated community located in Gordon County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
History of Lily Pond
The area known as Lily Pond got its name from the beautiful lilly pads that grew in a nearby pond. These plants are often seen floating on the surface of calm water.
A post office was opened in the community in 1872. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important part of the community for many years. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1910.
