Lily Serna was born in Jerusalem. Her family is from Palestine. She went to Cheltenham Girls High School in Sydney, Australia.

University Studies

In 2009, Lily graduated from the University of Technology Sydney. She earned two degrees: one in Mathematics and Finance, and another in International Studies. During her studies, she lived for a year in Bordeaux, France.

Career in Television and Math

Starting on TV

In August 2010, Lily Serna began co-hosting Letters and Numbers on SBS Television. At the same time, she was also studying mathematics part-time. Her studies focused on how math can be used in biology.

Numeracy and Data Work

In August 2012, Lily became a Numeracy Ambassador. This role helped promote math skills during National Literacy and Numeracy Week. She also joined the board of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute for a time.

Lily now works as a data analyst for Atlassian. This company makes software. Before that, she was a data analyst at Fairfax Media.

Other TV Shows

Lily co-hosted a cooking show called Destination Flavour. She worked with actress Renee Lim and chef Adam Liaw. The show first aired in late 2012.

In 2019, she appeared on the ABC show Catalyst. She was in an episode that talked about risk.

Since October 2021, Lily is back on TV. She co-presents a special celebrity version of Letters and Numbers.

Personal Life

In early 2019, Lily Serna got engaged to Blair Hickey. They were on a hike in Tasmania when he proposed. They had their first child in late 2019.
