Limebreach Wood (sometimes called Lime Breach Wood) is a beautiful woodland area. It is located in North Somerset, England. You can find it on the south side of the Tickenham Ridge, which is a range of hills. This wood sits between the towns of Clevedon and Bristol. It's also very close to an old historical site called Cadbury Camp.

Discovering Limebreach Wood

Limebreach Wood is known as an ancient woodland. This means it has been continuously covered by trees for hundreds of years, usually since at least the year 1600. These woodlands are very special because they have a rich history and are home to many different kinds of plants and animals.

What Lives in Limebreach Wood?

This wood is famous for having a lot of Small-leaved Lime trees. These trees are an important part of the forest.

You can also find interesting fungi here. One type of mushroom, called Limacella ochraceolutea, grows in the wood. Fungi are like the clean-up crew of the forest, helping to break down old plants.

Besides plants and fungi, insects also live here. A special kind of moth called Salebriopsis albicilla has been found in Limebreach Wood. This moth belongs to a group called pyralid moths.

Protecting the Wood

A part of Limebreach Wood is looked after as a nature reserve. This means it's a protected area where nature can thrive. The Avon Wildlife Trust manages this part of the wood. They work to keep the area healthy and safe for all the plants and animals that live there.
