Limerick City Gallery of Art facts for kids
The Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA) is a cool art museum in Limerick, Ireland. It's like a special home for amazing artworks! The city council runs it, and you can find it in Pery Square. This area is called Newtown Pery.
The gallery is inside a beautiful old building. It was built in 1906. Back then, it was a Carnegie library and a museum. Later, in 1936, the Limerick City Collection of Art started. This collection grew so much that it took over the old building. They even added a new part just for more art!
At LCGA, you can see lots of different art. They have old Irish art from the 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s. They also show new art from today. The gallery is a main spot for EVA International. This is a big art event that happens every two years in Ireland.
