It naturally grows all around the Mediterranean Basin. You can usually find it growing in sandy soils.

About the Wavyleaf Sea Lavender

This plant is a short-lived perennial, meaning it can live for more than two years. However, people often grow it as an annual, which means it lives for only one growing season.

What the Plant Looks Like

The leaves of the wavyleaf sea lavender are shaped like a spear. They have deep cuts or lobes and can grow up to 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) long. All parts of the plant feel soft and fuzzy.

Flowers and Stems

In the summer, tall, winged flower stems appear. These stems can reach about 70 centimeters (about 27 inches) in height. The flowers grow in small, papery bunches. They come in many colors, including white, pink, purple, and yellow. Sometimes, this plant can spread very easily in new areas.
