Early Life and Start in Acting

Lincoln Kilpatrick was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 12, 1932. He went to Lincoln University and studied drama. After college, he began his acting career. A famous singer named Billie Holiday even encouraged him!

In 1959, Lincoln Kilpatrick started acting on Broadway. This is a very famous theater area in New York City. His first big play was called A Raisin in the Sun.

Acting Career Highlights

During the 1960s, Lincoln Kilpatrick often appeared as a guest star on TV shows. He also had small roles in movies. But his main passion was for stage and theater acting. He kept performing in plays throughout his life.

Lincoln Kilpatrick also helped start a special acting school. It was called the Kilpatrick-Cambridge Theatre Arts School in Hollywood, California. He was also the first African-American actor to join the Lincoln Center Repertory Company. This was a very important theater group.

Family Life

Lincoln Kilpatrick was married to Helena Ferguson for 47 years. She was also a singer and stage performer. They were married from 1957 until he passed away in 2004.
