About CRWN Magazine
CRWN Magazine is a lifestyle magazine that celebrates women of color and their natural hair. It focuses on beauty, culture, and life for these women. The first issue of CRWN came out on August 27, 2016.
Why CRWN Magazine Started
Before starting CRWN, Lindsey Day worked at Interscope Records for six years. She also edited a blog called Livelevated. During her time at Interscope, she saw some tough times in the economy. This made her want to create something new and empowering.
Her first step was co-founding an online magazine called Made Women. This magazine was also for women and helped them connect in the business world. It was a way for women to support each other.
Lindsey Day once said in an interview that CRWN is more than just a hair magazine. She explained that it serves women who are educated and well-traveled. She believes this is because past generations worked hard to create opportunities for them.
Inspiration for CRWN
A very personal experience inspired Lindsey to create CRWN. For many years, she and her friends often straightened their hair. However, after her mother's health journey, Lindsey felt motivated to truly embrace her natural hair as a Black woman. This personal connection helped shape the vision for CRWN Magazine.
Lindsey Day's Current Work
Today, Lindsey Day owns Blossm Consulting Group. This company helps businesses with new ideas and ways to grow. It also specializes in digital marketing, which means helping businesses reach people online.
