Barbara Linnea Quigley (born May 27, 1958) is an American actress, model, and singer. She is well-known for her roles in many low-budget horror movies during the 1980s and 1990s. Because of these roles, she became known as a "scream queen." This is a term for an actress who often appears in horror films and is known for screaming a lot.

Linnea Quigley started her career in the late 1970s after moving to Los Angeles. She began modeling and taking acting classes. Her first acting role was in the film Fairy Tales (1978). She then got small parts in other films, including Graduation Day (1981).

In 1985, Quigley starred in the zombie horror film The Return of the Living Dead. She played a punk teenager, and this role became one of her most famous. It helped her gain her "scream queen" status. She continued to appear in many low-budget films, especially after home video became popular. Linnea Quigley was born on May 27, 1958, in Davenport, Iowa. She was an only child. She went to Garfield Elementary and Sudlow Middle Schools in Davenport. In 1972, she started attending Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. Linnea has said she was very shy during her school years. She did not sing in the glee club or act in plays.

After finishing high school in 1976, Quigley moved to Los Angeles with her parents. She got a job at a health spa. There, she met models who worked as extras in movies. Her friends encouraged her to try modeling. She also started taking acting and guitar lessons. One of her first acting jobs was a TV commercial for Close-Up toothpaste.

Quigley continued to get small roles in films. These included Auditions (1978) and the slasher film Graduation Day (1981). She also appeared in a re-released movie called Psycho from Texas.

Music Career

While auditioning for films, Linnea Quigley also tried out for bands. She first played guitar in an all-female band called Mad Whistle. Later, she formed her own band, The Skirts. Her friend Haydee Pomar played the bass guitar. They practiced in a punk rock club. Their music was even used in some of Linnea's later movies. One of their songs, "Santa Monica Blvd. Boy," was released on a music album in 1983.

Linnea's father was Dr. William "Nip" Heath Quigley. He was a dean and vice president at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Her mother, Dorothy, was a homemaker. After Linnea graduated from high school, she moved to California with her parents. Her father became the president of the Los Angeles campus of Palmer College.

During the filming of Night of the Demons (1988), Quigley started dating special-effects artist Steve Johnson. He proposed to her while they were working on the film A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988). They got married on January 17, 1990, but later divorced in 1992.

Vegan Lifestyle and Animal Rights

Linnea Quigley is a vegan. This means she does not eat any animal products, including meat, dairy, or eggs. She became a vegetarian in the late 1970s after moving to Los Angeles. Over time, she stopped eating all animal products.

She is a strong supporter of animal rights. She is an active member of PETA, an organization that works to protect animals. In October 1990, she was featured on the cover of Vegetarian Times magazine.
