Lircay is a town located in the middle of Peru. It is the main town, or capital, of the Angaraes province. This province is part of the Huancavelica region.
Lircay sits very high up in the mountains. It is about 3,278 meters (which is about 10,755 feet) above sea level. In 2007, a count showed that 6,563 people lived in Lircay. Most of the people living in the town are from native American groups.

Transportation in Lircay
Getting around Lircay is becoming easier. A two-lane road connects the town to the city of Huancavelica. This road was made smooth and paved in 2016, making travel much better.
Education in Lircay
Lircay is a place where learning is important. It has its own local university called the Universidad para el Desarrollo Andino. There's also a branch of the bigger Universidad Nacional de Huancavelica. For students interested in hands-on skills, there is a local technical school called the Instituto Tecnologico Lircay.
